How to Increase Your Self Esteem Using Positive Self Talk

There are lots of factors influencing our self-esteem. One of the most important - is self talk. Humans’ brain is made in such a way, that it always have to communicate with someone, and if there is no one around to communicate with in a particular time – the brain starts communicating with itself. Actually these are conscious and subconscious minds that do the communication. Subconscious mind mostly talks and conscious mind mostly listens. This happens until you take it into your conscious control. The moment you do that, you become the master of yourself.

To understand how that works, we have to discover some facts about our subconscious mind. Our subconscious is an information storage, which we develop during the lifetime. Everything we hear, see, taste, smell and touch stays in our mind. If you always hear that you are silly, ugly, bad, unworthy, if you see how some people perform angry, react aggressively, blame and complain, you subconsciously learn that information. Later when you are about to make decision or do something your subconscious will try to worn you not to do this or that, or may be do the same thing you saw another person did. So if you heard how stupid you are, you will be afraid to make decisions, ask questions, say your opinion, and say “no”. You will feel anxious and not capable to do the things you want.

If someone at school always told you that you are ugly, you probably will have problem with communicating with people, especially new people or trying to meet a girl/boy, because your inner voice will tell you that you are ugly and unworthy to talk to these people.

If you see people blaming and complaining - your inner voice will act the same. Every time some thing happen the voice within will start blaming and complaining about the situation, not letting you understand, that you are the cause of what happened. You won’t be able to analyze the situation and learn from it, because subconscious already did. That way you keep going in a cycle of problems and disappointments.

Our subconscious will always distract us from what we want, and will make us feel miserable unless we say “stop”. The only way we can increase our self-esteem is to take a control over our subconscious and reprogram it. From now on make a decision to control what your subconscious is telling you. Every time you hear it saying that you are stupid, ugly, and not able to do something, just make conscious corrections by saying that you are perfectly beautiful, smart and capable to do whatever it is. Say it not once or twice say it for some ten times and you will feel much better about yourself.

A good exercise to increase your self-esteem using self talk - is a mirror exercise. All you have to do is to look into the mirror and proudly say all good stuff about yourself. Do it for at least some thirty days, until you truly believe everything you say.  It feels a little weird, but, believe me, it works. In such a manner you can remake your subconscious. Every time you need its help it will tell you how perfect you are, you just have to teach it.  You can use some affirmations from below:

  • I deserve to be loved

  • I am smart and beautiful

  • Everyday and in everyway I am getting better and better

  • I radiate confidence and relaxation

  • I have sky-high self-esteem

  • I am perfect in my communication with people

  • I can ask for whatever I want and get whatever I desire

  • I can accomplish every goal I set

  • I am a worth person

  • I like myself

Talk to your self positively. You are the person you communicate the most. If you always hear from yourself how perfect you are, unconsciously you will feel and act the same way. Your self esteem will develop to the limit you want it to. Be proud of your self, say thanks to yourself, love and respect yourself. Increase you self-esteem, by using such an easy technique. Just remember to say to yourself that you are wonderful and unique creature of the universe, worthy for a dream life!
